The vibrant arts and culture scene in the North Okanagan-Shuswap always surprises newcomers to the region. The beauty of the region is an inspiration to artists of all kinds including painters, potters, writers, weavers, sculptors, photographers, wood and glass artists. Local artists are supported by the Shuswap District Arts Council, the Salmon Arm Arts Centre, the Arts Council for the South Shuswap as well as studios and shops that exhibit and sell local art.
There is a lively music and theatre scene here too! Wednesdays on the Wharf in Salmon Arm attracts thousands for a free community concert series held June – August. Several local theatre companies produce enjoyable live theatre productions throughout the year; or take in jazz, symphony, opera and other cultural offerings.
